GRP Starling

After 10 years building successful wooden Starlings, Sail One has converted this knowledge into making a fibreglass Starling. The GRP boat is proving to be equally competitive without the burden of maintenance. It is also cheaper than building a wooden Starling.

The foam and glass hulls are very stiff and light in the ends. The moulded coaming on the deck is very effective at keeping the water out of the cockpit. The rig control lines are mounted on top of the coaming for easy adjustment and to keep them out of the way when sitting forward.

The cockpit and gunwhale corners are well rounded for comfort and the cockpit floor has a moulded non-slip pattern. A single self-bailer set in a well just aft of the centrecase keeps the boat totally dry and clear for movement across the cockpit.

The centreboard and rudder are GRP. The rudder has a lightweight moulded stock which features a sophisticated locking and kick-up system.
